Impaired Arrest

A 48-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident Friday evening. 

At approximately 7:30pm on January 13, 2023, officers were called by a concerned resident about a vehicle in a ditch in the Fairbairn Street and McCrea Drive area.  Upon arrival, officers noticed obvious signs of impairment with driver.  During the investigation it was learned that there was a warrant out for the driver.  

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Failure to comply with undertaking X2
• Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
• Obstruct plate (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions:

• Do not be in the driver seat of a vehicle
• Do not possess a cellular device or other electronic device capable of sending or receiving electronic communication or calls

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on January 14, 2023. 

Break and Enter Arrest

A 20-year-old Peterborough man is facing break and enter charges after incidents at north end business.  

At approximately 1:15am on January, 14, 2023, officers were called to a break and enter in progress at a business in the Marina Boulevard and Hilliard Street.  Upon arrival, officers learned that several prescription medications had been taken and identified a person of interest. PSD Gryphon was called in to complete a track of the area and further video surveillance helped officers confirm the person of interest as the suspect.  A short time later officers located the suspect at a residence and took him into custody.  Officers also found a bag with the stolen items.  It was further determined that the suspect was wanted in connection with a break and enter at the same business earlier this month.

As a result, a 20-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence X2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, February 1, 2023.
