Stunt Driving Charge
A 20-year-old Peterborough man is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop Friday morning.
At approximately 7:55am on March 15, 2024, an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop after recording a vehicle travelling 100km/h in a 50km/h zone on Clonsilla Avenue near Lansdowne Street.
As a result, the 20-year-old Peterborough man was issued a court date of May 27, 2024, a 30-day license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
Stolen Vehicle Arrest
A 19-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges in connection with stolen vehicles.
At approximately 6:00pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024, officers spotted a minivan in the Harper Road and Rye Street area with a license plate that had been reported as missing. The officer conducted a traffic stop during which they learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Lanark County.

As a result, a 19-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada (minivan)
- Theft Over $5,000 (tractor)
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 15, 2024.
Warrant Arrest
A 22-year-old Toronto woman wanted on warrants in Peterborough was taken into custody after serving time in a women’s facility.
On March 14, 2024, officers were made aware of the woman’s release and attended the facility in Milton to take her into custody. She was wanted on two warrants connected to an incident in October 2021 in which she was facing 6 weapons-related charges and failing to attend court after having appeared.
As a result, a 22-year-old Toronto woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 15, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision – Park Street and Charlotte Street
A 29-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with careless driving after a collision Thursday morning.
The collision happened at Park Street and Charlotte Street about 10:10am and one of the vehicles rolled over. Both drivers were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
The area was closed for about an hour while the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit investigated.
St. Patrick’s Day Increased Presence
With St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Sunday, the Peterborough Police Service is asking residents choosing to celebrate — to celebrate responsibly.
Peterborough Police will have an increased presence throughout the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield, and Township of Cavan-Monaghan to respond to an anticipated increase in calls for service, such as noise or disturbance calls.
Chief Betts will be going out on the road on Saturday, March 16, 2024 afternoon/evening. Watch for his messages on X (formerly Twitter) throughout his shift.
There will also be RIDE check stops throughout the weekend.
Please don’t drive impaired. If you are going out, make sure you have a safe ride home at the end of your evening.

- Arrange a ride ahead of time
- Stay overnight if possible

A reminder that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held Sunday afternoon (March 17, 2024) starting at 2:00pm. Expect road closures in the area of the route (George Street and McDonnel Street to George Street and McGill) between 12:30pm and 4:30pm.
