Weapons Arrest
Three teens have been charged in connection with a weapons incident Sunday evening.
At approximately 10:00pm on March 3, 2024, officers were called about a vehicle in the Brock Street and George Street area. It was reported that the occupants of the vehicle were shooting a pellet gun at people. While police were investigating, the vehicle returned to the area and more shots were heard. Officers followed the vehicle across the Hunter Street bridge and were able to get the vehicle to stop in the James Street and Mark Street area. Officers drew their firearms and conducted a gun point arrest. All three people in the vehicle were taken into custody without incident. No one was seriously injured.
During a search after arrest, officers located a loaded replica handgun, ammunition, and a small quantity of drugs.
As a result of the investigation:
An 18-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Discharge firearm with Intent
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from peace officer
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 4, 2024.
A 16-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Discharge Air Gun with Intent
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to comply with sentence (Youth Criminal Justice Act)
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition, to not communicate with several people including the one of the other people in the vehicle.
The accused is currently bound by a prohibition order with the following condition, to not possess any firearm, prohibited weapon or ammunition.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court, March 4, 2024.
A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

Arson Investigation
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a fire was deliberately set at a Peterborough business early Saturday morning.
At approximately 5:00am on March 2, 2024, officers were called to the business in the Lansdowne Street and Brealey Drive area. Upon arrival, they learned that the front window had been smashed and a fire set. No one was injured in the incident. A suspect was seen leaving the area in a dark sedan.

Stolen Vehicle
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a tractor was stolen from a west-end Peterborough business Sunday evening.
At approximately 6:10pm on March 3, 2024, officers were called to the business on Lansdowne Street West. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man is seen entering a parking lot and disabling the security system before leaving on a lawn tractor (image) worth about $20,000 and heading eastbound on Lansdowne Street.
The suspect is described to police as:
- Male
- Approximately 6’1
- Slim build
- Wearing all black and a black hat

Impaired Arrest
A 22-year-old Palmer Rapids, Ontario man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Saturday morning.
At approximately 1:30am on March 2, 2024, an officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle going the wrong direction on Water Street at Sherbrooke Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled over on Townsend Street with two of its tires upon the sidewalk. While interacting with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Palmer Rapids, Ontario man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired, alcohol
- Operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive wrong way - one-way traffic (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to have insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 26, 2024.
