UPDATE # 2 HOUSING UNIT TAKEOVER: The Peterborough Police Service has made another arrest in relation to a housing Unit takeover that occurred at an address on Fairbairn Street.
A 24-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Fail to comply with release order
The accused is being held in custody and will be appearing in court today, May 3, 2024.

UPDATE HOUSING UNIT TAKEOVER: The Peterborough Police Service is continuing to investigate a Housing Unit Takeover.
Members of the Peterborough Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Unit including officers from the Forensic Identification Unit conducted a search warrant at a residence on Fairbairn Street on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Officers were on scene for approximately three hours. Located and seized as a result of this search warrant was a firearm, several types of illicit drugs, and a quantity of Canadian currency. These items are pictured below.

Housing Unit Takeover Arrests
Three people are facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 7:00pm on April 30, 2024, officers were conducting a well-being check at a residence on Fairbairn Street in Peterborough. Upon knocking on the door a 24-year-old man exited the residence with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was treated at the scene by EMS and taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. It was learned there were more people in the residence. Officers with the Emergency Response Team, K9 and RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) Units set up and the residence was cleared by officers.
As a result of the incident,
A 22-year-old St. Catharines man was arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (suspected fentanyl)
- Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000 (money believed to be a result of drug trafficking)
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 1, 2024.
A 16-year-old Whitby male was arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (suspected fentanyl)
- Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000 (money believed to be a result of drug trafficking)
- Fail to comply with Undertaking
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions to abide by a set curfew in their place of residence and to not possess a firearm or prohibited weapon.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 1, 2024
A 15-year-old Ajax male was arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 1, 2024.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the accused cannot be released.
During the arrests officers seized:
- 28.5 grams of fentanyl
- Canadian currency
Peterborough Police will remain at the scene until the investigation is completed.
The Peterborough Police Service is not looking for any other suspects at this time.
