Break and Enter Arrests
A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing seven charges in connection with three recent break and enters in Peterborough.
At approximately 11:00pm on Monday, May 30, 2022, officers received a call about a break and enter in progress at Lansdowne Place Mall. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police hiding behind a door and was taken into custody. During the arrest several items from a break and enter at Lansdowne Place Mall earlier that day were located on the accused along with approximately 8 grams of Fentanyl. Further investigation revealed reasonable grounds for charges in connection with a break and enter on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at a business in the Lansdowne Street West and Ford Street area.
As a result, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Break and Enter – with intent to commit an indictable offence x3
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl
The accused appeared in court on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Theft of Jewelry
Peterborough Police are investigating after a jewelry store was broken into early Monday morning.
At approximately 6:00am on May 30, 2022, officers were called to Lansdowne Place Mall after an alarm went off. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had broken into the mall and then a jewelry store before fleeing with the following worth about $19,000:
- 19 Citizen Watches (men’s & women’s)
- 83 Silver Necklaces including several with intricate detailing
- $200 in Canadian Currency
The male suspect was last spotted heading eastbound on Lansdowne Street on a bicycle and is described as wearing (photo attached):
A black sweater with red and white lettering
- Grey pants
- Black face covering
- Black shoes
- Black hat
- Backpack

Theft Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police are investigating after a theft was reported early Wednesday morning.
Just after midnight on June 1, 2022, officers were made aware of an incident involving Westforce Security. Upon arrival at the scene in the Rink Street and George Street area, officers learned that two security guards had been patrolling the area on foot and as they were returning to their vehicle, they noticed an unknown male dressed in a similar fashion to the guards looking into the vehicle. The male fled the area when the guards approached. When the security guards reached the vehicle, they noticed the large magnets identifying the vehicle as a Westforce Security vehicle were missing.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Male, Caucasian
- Bald
- About 6’ with a slim build
- Grey polo shirt
- Black tactical cargo pants
- Black shoes

Assault Arrest
A 20-year-old Cavan-Monaghan Township man is facing charges after a domestic incident early Wednesday morning.
Just after midnight on June 1, 2022, officers were called about two people arguing that turned physical in the Antrim Street and George Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the male had left the area but was at a nearby residence. Officers attended the residence and took the male into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Cavan-Monaghan Township man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
- Mischief under $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 23, 2022.
