Theft/Robbery Arrest
A 23-year-old Peterborough man is facing a dozen charges in connection with several incidents at two local businesses over the past two weeks.
At approximately 5:00pm on July 18, 2023, officers attended one of the businesses in The Parkway and Lansdowne Street area for follow-up on several reports of thefts and robbery in which it was reported pepper spray and a knife were brandished on two occasions.
Shortly after the officers left, the Loss Prevention Officer for the business reached out saying the suspect had returned but had gone into another business and appeared to leave with items without paying. Officers returned to the area and with the help of the Loss Prevention Officers a suspect was located in a back parking lot in the Lansdowne Street and High Street area. As officers approached, the suspect started to run. Officers gave chase and were able to take the suspect into custody. A search of the area between where the suspect was arrested, and the business turned up two stolen items.
As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

July 10, 2023 incident:
- Robbery with Theft
- Fail to Comply with Probation X2
June 29, 2023 incident:
- Robbery with Theft
- Fail to Comply with Probation X2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend the businesses involved in these incidents.
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, July 19, 2023.
