Distracted Driving Campaign Update
The Peterborough Police Service continues to ask you to “Keep Your Eyes” on the road.
In the first week of the campaign 40 tickets were issued to motorists for distracted driving.
Help keep your roads safe by:
- Never text while driving
- Pull over to use your phone
- Avoid tasks that may take your attention away from driving
The campaign will continue throughout the month of May with traffic and frontline officers conducting speed enforcement and watching for distracted drivers in high traffic volume areas and residential neighbourhoods.
Impaired Arrest
A 51-year-old Frankford woman is facing charges after an incident Monday.
At approximately 11:00am on May 8, 2023, officers were called to a parking lot in the Hunter Street and Aylmer Street area by a concerned resident. Upon arrival, officers located a woman walking and acting erratically before getting into her vehicle and driving out of the lot. Officers conducted a traffic stop and noticed further signs of impairment with the driver. During a search after arrest officers located 4.2grams of cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Frankford woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 30, 2023.
