Impaired Arrest
A 31-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately at 11:30pm on May 13, 2024, officers were called to Brealey Drive and Mapleridge Drive about a vehicle stuck in the construction zone and a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival officers spoke with the driver and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result, a 31-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No License (Highway Traffic Act)
- Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court June 25, 2024.
Distraction Theft Arrest
A 32-year-old Ajax man is facing a charge in connection with a distraction theft at a local business last week.
At approximately 8:00pm on May 9, 2024, officers were made aware of the incident that happened on May 7, 2024. On May 10, 2024, officers began an investigation learning that a woman had attended the store in the Lansdowne Street and Dobbin Street area and shortly after two males entered the store. They made a purchase during which the woman was seen exiting the store with about $20,000 in golf merchandise. The males left shortly after in a vehicle and it was further learned that the group had met up after leaving the store. The investigation revealed that the same group had attempted a similar ruse at another store selling golf equipment. Through video surveillance at both stores, officers were able to identify one of the people involved.
At approximately 10:50pm on Monday, May 13, 2024, officers on general patrol spotted the vehicle connected to the investigation in the Park Street South and Stewart Street area and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result, a 32-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft over $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 11, 2024.

Weapons Arrest
Two 22-year-old Peterborough men are facing charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 8:00pm on May 10, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Wolfe Street and Stewart Street area about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that two men had shown up at the residence, pushed and punched the male victim, threatened him with an iron rod, then verbally threatened the victim and pointed a firearm at him while driving off.
Officers located the vehicle in the Spillsbury Drive and Forster Avenue area and conducted a traffic stop. Based on the information that a firearm was seen during the incident, officers conducted a gun-point arrest and took two suspects into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation:
A 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
The accused was held in custody and appeared in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) Court on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
A 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 4, 2024.
Break and Enter Suspects Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after two break and enter incidents early Monday morning.
At approximately 5:05am on May 13, 2024, officers were called to a business on The Kingsway after an alarm. Upon arrival, officers noticed the front door had been smashed. It was further learned that several thousand dollars worth of tools had been taken.
At approximately 5:23am on May 13, 2024, officers were called to a business on Neal Drive. Upon arrival, the front glass door was smashed.
