Impaired Arrest
A 28-year-old Etobicoke man is facing charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately 6:40pm on June 3, 2024, officers received several reports of a vehicle speeding and squealing tires in the area of Olympus Avenue and Royal Drive. Officers arrived in the area and located a vehicle matching the description given to police. As officers got closer the vehicle pulled away from the curb, was being driven erratically and observed speeding through a school zone. The officer activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Etobicoke man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle- no licence (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 16, 2024.
Theft/Mischief Arrest
A 43-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 1:15am on June 4, 2024, officers were called to a business in the Chemong Road and Milroy Drive area about a male attempting to enter the property through a fence. Upon arrival, officers spotted a male matching the description provided to police. However, the male got on a bicycle and started riding away on the bike path. Officers followed him and were able to take him into custody when he attempted to get off the bike in a construction zone.
During a search after arrest officers seized:
- 1.8g of Fentanyl
- 2.5g of Crystal Methamphetamine
- 2 tablets of Morphine
- 2 Pocket knives
- Drug paraphernalia
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Fentanyl
- Theft under $5000 (In connection with an online report)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 9, 2024.
