Weapons Arrest
A 17-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately 6:00pm on June 10, 2024, officers were called to a residence. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been struck by a phone, a gun had been pointed at her and she had been verbally threatened. Officers entered the home and located the suspect and took him into custody. The weapon was located on the property and was determined to be a toy gun.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Assault with A Weapon
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 11, 2024.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
Traffic Initiative
The Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit will be conducting an ongoing traffic initiative around illegally modified vehicles.
The initiative is in response to recent complaints made by residents about vehicles with loud exhaust and illegal tinting as well as erratic driving and stunt driving in neighbourhoods.
The Traffic Unit enforces the Highway Traffic Act to ensure our roads are safe for all.
