Festive RIDE
The Peterborough Police Service conducted a Festive RIDE check this weekend.
Saturday, December 31, 2022 – 495 vehicles checked; 11 ASD administered
The Peterborough Police Service wishes to remind motorists to plan ahead.
If you have consumed alcohol or cannabis, please don’t drive. Call or arrange a ride, stay overnight, or contact a designated driver.
If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired, please call 9-1-1.
Robbery Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a robbery at a local business Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00pm on January 1, 2023, officers were made aware of an incident at a business in the Charlotte Street and Park Street area. Officers learned that a male and a female were in the store and appeared to be taking items without paying. During the incident an employee was shoved before the suspects fled. The next day, Monday, January 2, 2023, two officers on bicycle patrol spotted a man matching the description given to police and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with Violence
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
During the arrest it was learned the accused was also wanted on outstanding warrants in connection with incidents in 2022 and 2021.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, January 3, 2023.
