Impaired Arrest

A 68-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of impaired charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 8:15pm on January 7, 2023, officers were notified of a fail to remain collision in The Queensway Avenue and Erskine Avenue area.  Upon arrival to the area, officers located a third vehicle that indicated they had been sideswiped by a vehicle being driven erratically and that a second vehicle was following the first.  Officers were then called to a parking lot in The Parkway and Queensway area about two vehicles with significant damage.  One driver indicated they were struck by a vehicle at a stop sign and that the other vehicle took off.  Upon speaking with the driver of the suspect vehicle, officers noticed obvious signs of impairment.  

No one was seriously injured in the either collision.

As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Dangerous operation
• Failure to stop after accident

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. 

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 24, 2023. 

Robbery Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business.

At approximately 10:15 am on Sunday, January 8, 2023, officers were called to a business in the George Street North and Townsend Street area about a robbery in progress.  Upon arrival officers learned that a male had entered the store and wanted to smoke in the washroom.  When they were told no, the male showed the clerk a knife and then took several items from the store and left.  A short time later officers located a male matching the description given to police and took him into custody.  During a search of the accused, officers located a pair of scissors, a split pair of scissors and a spike.  

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Robbery with Weapon
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Fraud Arrest

A 46-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a fraud was reported.

At approximately 4:45pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023, officers were made aware that the victim had entered into a deal to purchase a vehicle from the suspect and had made the agreed upon payment.  However, after several weeks and discussions with the suspect, the victim had still not received the vehicle and called police.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Fraud under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, February 2, 2023.
