Impaired Arrest
A 61-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a traffic stop on Friday afternoon.
At approximately 2:36pm on February 16, 2024, an officer on traffic patrol spotted a vehicle driving with a flat tire. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the Towerhill Road and Hilliard Street area and spoke with the driver. During the conversation there signs of impairment with the driver and concerns about the vehicle's braking system.
As a result of the stop, a 61-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operate unsafe vehicle - commercial motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available (Liquor Licence and Control Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 12, 2024.
Impaired Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Monday morning.
At approximately 2:15am on February 19, 2024, officers were called to the area of Sherbrooke Street and Water Street after reports of a vehicle that had gone up on the sidewalk and struck a pole. Upon arrival, officers were directed by some bystanders to a person walking away from the collision area. Officers spoke to the man and determined he was the driver of the vehicle. They also observed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 5, 2024.
Stolen Vehicle Incident
The Peterborough Police Service continues to investigate after a stolen vehicle was located in the water off Johnson Drive in Peterborough.
Upon arrival, officers and Peterborough Fire determined no one was in the vehicle and it’s believed the vehicle was pushed into the water from the road. The vehicle was found to be stolen from a nearby residence.

Warrant Arrest
A 45-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man wanted on warrants is also facing a number of Highway Traffic Act infractions after a traffic stop in Peterborough.
At approximately 1:45am on February 17, 2024, officers on general patrol noticed a vehicle driving with improper plates, however, the driver initially refused to provide a correct name and did not provide vehicle documentation. It was further discovered that the driver was wanted on warrant.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Obstruct Peace Officer (failing to provide name)
Highway Traffic Act:
- Confuse identity of plate
- Drive motor vehicle, no plates
- Permit use of plate not in accordance with Act
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Driver fail to give identification
Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
