Bail Violations Arrest
A 21-year-old Etobicoke man is facing a number of charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately 6:30pm on April 1, 2024, officers were called about a black vehicle being driven erratically at Armour Hill. Officers launched the RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) and were able to see the vehicle start to leave Armour Hill and travel down George Street and park at the plaza at George Street and Rink Street. Officers arrived to the area and parked behind the vehicle to prevent it from leaving. The male driver was spotted in a store and fled when he saw police. Officers gave chase with a third officer blocking an alleyway where the male was running. The male surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers seizing a quantity of cannabis and two open bottles of liquor. Two others in the vehicle were released unconditionally.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Etobicoke man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
- Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Possess licence while prohibited (Highway Traffic Act)
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)
The accused is currently bound by a three-year driving prohibition order and a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 2, 2024.
