Trafficking/Warrant Arrest

A 49-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:15pm on November 15, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Sherbrooke Street and Reid Street area about an unwanted person.  Upon arrival, officers observed a man matching the description given to police attempting to leave the area.  Officers were able to take the man into custody.  During the arrest officers seized the following:

• 58.1 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
• 8.4 grams of Cocaine
• 6.3 grams of Fentanyl
• Canadian Currency

It was further learned that the man had provided a false name to police and that he had a warrant out for his arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

• Traffick in Schedule I substance - Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)
• Traffick in Schedule I substance - Opioid (other than heroin)
• Traffick in Schedule I substance- Cocaine
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
• Obstruct Peace Officer (false name)

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 16, 2023.

Assault Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a domestic incident early Thursday morning.

At approximately 12:15am on November 16, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Kawartha Heights Boulevard and Lansdowne Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal dispute had escalated, and a female victim had been verbally threatened, slapped and choked.  The victim revealed that a similar incident had taken place the previous week.  The female was take to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
• Assault – Spousal X2
• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 16, 2023.
