Weapons Arrest - Update
A third teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident Sunday evening.
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, officers arrested the teen at his residence.
As a result of the investigation, the 16-year-old Peterborough male was charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court yesterday, August 16, 2023.
Weapons Arrest
A 29-year-old Curve Lake, ON man is facing a weapons charge after an incident Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:55pm on August 16, 2023, officers were called about a disturbance between two males on a path near a park in the Reid Street and McDonnel Street area. Upon arrival to the area, officers spoke with the victim who indicated his personal belongings had been stolen and he had been chased by a man with a hatchet. PC Wentworth and K9 Gryphon arrived in the area and as they entered the park spotted a man matching the description given to police, they called out to the man to stop. As a result, he was taken into custody without incident and the weapon was seized.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Curve Lake, ON man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 5, 2023.
Further investigation revealed that the victim in the case, a 25-year-old Peterborough man, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for parole suspension. He was arrested by officers on strength of the warrant.
Assault Arrest
A 28-year-old Kelowna, BC man is facing charges after an incident this past weekend.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, officers were made aware of an assault that happened between two male family members the evening of Saturday, August 12, 2023 and the evening of Sunday, August 13, 2023. The male victim reported to officers that he was held against his will, choked, and assaulted with a knife. They also learned of a series of communications from July which included threats. As a result, a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 28-year-old Kelowna, BC man. Through investigation it was determined the suspect was in Toronto and was taken into custody by Toronto officers before being transported back to Peterborough.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on the strength of the warrant for the following charges:
- Assault
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
- Assault with a Weapon
- Forcible Confinement
- Mischief - destroys or damages property
- Theft Under $5000 s.334(b)
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X3
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, August 17, 2023.
