Shooting Incident - Media Availability
Peterborough Police will be holding a media availability at 10:30am Thursday, April 21, 2022 on the west side of Park Street South across from Princess Street.
Assault Arrest
A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing assault charges after an incident at a Peterborough business Wednesday morning.
At approximately 9:15am on April 20, 2022, officers were called to a store on Lansdowne Street West. Upon arrival officers learned that a male had attempted to take some items from the store and became irate when confronted by store employees -- verbally threatening them and being physically aggressive including pushing a store cart at an employee.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged:
- Assault with A Weapon (store cart)
- Assault
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X3
- Theft Under $5000
Trespass to Property Act
- Fail to leave premises when directed
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 17, 2022.
Break and Enter Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police investigating after a break and enter at a business in Cavan-Monaghan Township.
At approximately 10:30pm on April 20, 2022, officers were called to the business at the end of Lansdowne Street West and Highway 7. Upon arrival officers learned that the suspect had entered the building through a boarded-up window was confronted by a clerk and left the store, but then came back several minutes later and went to the front of the store pushing the clerk to the ground, before fleeing the area.
Officers searched the immediate area and K9 was called in to attempt a track of the area, but a suspect was not located.
This was the second incident at the business in two days.

Counterfeit Coins
Peterborough Police want to make the public aware about counterfeit coins that may be circulating in Peterborough.
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, over a dozen counterfeit $2 coins were turned in. The coins had been found in the out chute of a coin machine at a Chemong Road plaza.
