Budget Information and Consultation Town Hall
The Peterborough Police Service is hosting a town hall tonight at the Healthy Planet Arena Banquet Hall from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Chief Stuart Betts will be presenting on the 2024 budget. The meeting is open to all members of the community.

Assault Arrest
A 49-year-old Havelock man is facing charges after an incident Friday afternoon.
At approximately 5:15pm on September 15, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Crystal Drive and Middlefield Road area about a man pointing a firearm from a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were directed to the vehicle and approached with guns drawn, however, the vehicle took off almost striking an officer. Officers followed but the pursuit was called off for public safety.
Officers learned that a female victim had been verbally threatened and choked during an altercation with the male in the vehicle. A firearm that was not loaded was later found inside the complex.
The suspect was located by Peterborough County OPP on another matter before being turned back over to Peterborough Police.
As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Havelock man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
- Dangerous operation
- Pointing a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 21-year-old Bowmanville man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:50am on September 16, 2023, officers were called to the intersection of Highway 7 and Maple Grove Road about a vehicle in the middle of the intersection and that the driver was possibly impaired. Upon arrival, officers detected signs of impairment with driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Bowmanville man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court October 10, 2023.
The Peterborough Police Service would like to thank the resident who called 9-1-1.
Theft Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Sunday evening.
At approximately 9:15pm on September 17, 2023, officers were called to the parking lot of Lansdowne Place Mall by security about a female entering vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located a female matching the description given to police attempting to leave the area on a bicycle. Officers located several items determined to be taken from the vehicle and they were returned to the owner.
It was further learned that the female was wanted on warrants in connection with a break and enter incident in Peterborough in June of 2023.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court today, September 18, 2023.
