Motor Vehicle Collision – North Monaghan Parkway
The Peterborough Police Service continues to investigate after a fatal collision early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:00am on September 14, 2024, officers were called to the area of North Monaghan Parkway and Dobbin Road after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a pedestrian who was struck. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and provided first aid until first responders arrived. The pedestrian, a 17-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan male, was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre where he succumbed to his injuries
The road was closed for about eight hours while the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit collision reconstruction unit investigated.
Break and Enter Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 12:00am on September 15, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Parkhill Road East and Leahy’s Lane area about a break and enter in progress. Upon arrival, officers were informed that two people had entered a vacant residence. Police Service Dog (PSD) Gryphon was called in and conducted a bark and hold. At the sound of PSD Gryphon the two people inside surrendered to police. After investigation, one person was released unconditionally.
The second person, a 37-year-old Peterborough man, was arrested and charged with:
- Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 29, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision – Sir Sandford Fleming Drive and Fisher Drive
The Peterborough Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision Saturday afternoon in the Sir Sandford Fleming Drive and Fisher Drive area.
At approximately 2:30pm on September 14, 2024, officers were called to the intersection about reports of a vehicle into a traffic light and the pole falling down. Upon arrival, they learned the driver of the vehicle attempted to swerve out of the way for wildlife striking the traffic pole.
As a result, a 45-year-old Peterborough man was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for Careless Driving.
2025 Budget Town Hall Meeting
The Peterborough Police Service will be hosting an open information session at the McDonnel Activity Centre on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
We will be sharing details in relation to how your tax dollars are being spent on policing, where we stack up nationally, provincially, locally & against similar size communities. Also included will be information about how local initiatives are having a positive impact on public safety in the City of Peterborough.
There will be some opportunity for Q&A during the session, but time is limited.
