Assault with a Weapon/Weapons Offences Arrest
A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 11:30am on May 4, 2024, officers were called about a domestic disturbance at an apartment building in the area of McDonnel Street and Stewart Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female had been chased by a male and struck in the head with a bat. The male returned to their apartment and the female left the area. Officers attended the suspect’s apartment, but he refused to come out. Part of the building was evacuated as a precaution.
Approximately three and a half hours later the suspect exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
A few hours later officers received judicial approval through a warrant to enter and search the apartment. They seized the following:
- A long gun
- A paintball gun
- Several BB guns
- Baseball bat
As a result, a 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
The accused is currently bound by a prohibition order to not possess any weapons.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) Court on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Theft of Motor Vehicle Arrest
A 19-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday morning.
At approximately 9:00am on May 4, 2024, officers were called to a residence on Harper Road about a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect may be in the area of Johnston Drive. Officers checked the area and located the vehicle in the area Johnston Drive and Carolyn Street. The driver attempted to flee but officers were able to block the suspect in and conducted a gun-point arrest.
As a result, a 19-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Driving while under suspension
It was further learned that the accused was also wanted on warrants for theft and possession of property obtained by crime.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) Court on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
