Aggravated Assault Arrest
A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on June 3, 2022, officers were called to the area of McDonnel and Aylmer Streets. Upon arrival, officers learned that there had been an altercation between two customers outside of a convenience store and that a woman had been stabbed. Officers were able to get a description of the suspect and K9 was called in to help search. A male matching the description given to police was located a short distance away and taken into custody. The woman was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre before being flown to a Toronto hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused was remanded into custody after a court appearance on June 4, 2022, and will appear in court again on June 8, 2022.
Assault Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police are investigating after an incident early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight on June 5, 2022, officers were called to the area of Murray Street and Aylmer Street about a man reporting being cut on the arm by a boxcutter. Officers had received information about an incident several hours earlier and were continuing to investigate as they had been unable to locate a suspect or an injured party. It’s believed the original incident happened around 10:30pm possibly in the Brock Street and Aylmer Street area. The 55-year-old male victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Weapons Investigation
Peterborough Police are investigating after several reports of a man with a knife Friday evening.
Just before 7:30pm on June 3, 2022, officers received a report of a man in the King Street and George Street area yelling at another male and mentioning a knife.
At approximately 7:30pm on June 3, 2022, officers were called to the area of Stewart Street and Sherbrooke Street. Upon arrival officers learned that a man had heard someone yelling outside of his home and when he went to investigate a male became aggressive and lunged at him with a knife.
At approximately 8:00pm on June 3, 2022, officers received a call about a male matching the description of the previous call in the Bethune and King Street area. The complainant reported that around 7:30pm he had been walking in the area when a man yelled at him and pulled out a knife, making threatening gestures.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
In each case, the suspect was described to police as:
- Early to mid 20s
- 6'3 tall
- Thin but athletic build
- Red shirt
- Grey jean shorts
- Baseball hat

Mischief Investigation
Peterborough Police are asking for the public’s help after an incident between a motorist and a cyclist Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 12:15pm on June 4, 2022, officers were called to the area of Towerhill Road and Hilliard Street. Upon arrival they learned that a woman had been waiting to exit a parking lot when a cyclist rode into her vehicle, a confrontation ensued, and the cyclist stabbed the drivers’ side front tire before riding away.

Trail Investigation
Peterborough Police are investigating after an incident on a trail near Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road Friday afternoon.
At approximately noon on June 3, 2022, officers were called about a male carrying and possibly attempting to shoot what may have been a pellet gun. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Male, Caucasian
- 25-30 years old
- No facial hair
- Average build
- Black t-shirt
- Dark pants
- Black ball cap
- Short hair
- Little cart that had a black case on it

Suspicious Person Investigation
Peterborough Police investigating after a report of a male acting suspiciously early Saturday morning.
Just before 4:00am on June 4, 2022, officers were called to the George Street and Charlotte Street area about a man who had approached two women, exposed himself and made threatening comments before fleeing the area.
The suspect was last seen in the area of the King Street parking garage and is described to police as:
- Male, Black
- Approximately 20 years old
- Wearing a mint green shirt
- Hair in dreadlocks

Break and Enter Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police are investigating after a residential break and enter on Saturday afternoon.
It’s believed the suspect entered the home in the Queen Street and Simcoe Street area through a balcony door sometime between 12:30 and 2:30pm while the homeowners were having a nap. Several items, including bank cards and about $200 in cash was taken. No one was injured in the incident.

Impaired Arrest
A 48-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident Sunday evening.
At approximately 6:00pm on June 5, 2022, officers were called to a parking lot in the Fairbairn Avenue and Highland Road area on a report of an impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had driven on a lawn and almost struck two parked vehicles before stopping and getting out of the vehicle. A concerned citizen was able to get the keys away from the woman. Officers noticed obvious signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Impaired Operation
- Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 29, 2022.
