Hate/Bias Incident Investigation -Update
Over the weekend of June 17 and 18, 2023, the Peterborough Police Service was made aware of two more incidents in which people located anti-Semitic pamphlets in neighbourhoods.
In mid-May a number of similar incidents were reported. See previous release. The most recent incidents were in different neighbourhoods from the previous ones.

Residents can also report Hate/Bias Incidents through the Peterborough Police Service Online Reporting Portal. Hate/Bias Incidents are incidents that do not rise to the level of criminal behaviour under the Criminal Code of Canada, however, are still important to report.
Assault Arrest
A 31-year-old Havelock man is facing charges after an incident Sunday.
On June 18, 2023, officers were called about a domestic incident. Officers learned that a verbal argument had escalated and that a female victim had been grabbed by the hair, bit, and punched. When the victim returned to their residence, it was noticed that the house had been broken into and some items taken.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Havelock man was arrested at his residence and charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal
- Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, June 19, 2023.
Suspicious Vehicle – Millbrook
The Peterborough Police Service continues to investigate after a report of a suspicious vehicle recently.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, officers were called about an incident that happened in the County Road 21 and County Road 10 area where a 12-year-old child was approached by a vehicle around 7:45am and offered a ride to school. The child said no, and the vehicle took off. Officers have been in contact with the school who was also made aware of the incident.
The vehicle is described as:
- Navy blue SUV with roof racks
The driver is described as:
- 40-50 years old
- Heavy set male with grey hair with some grey facial hair

Impaired Arrest
A 45-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 8:15pm on June 17, 2023, officers were called to a parking lot in the Chemong Road and Wolsely Street after a concerned citizen called about a possible impaired driver after a collision in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located the driver and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 4, 2023.
Break and Enter Investigation
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a break and enter to a business recently.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, officers were called to the business in The Kingsway and The Parkway area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a warehouse had been entered and bins had been rifled through. It’s believed the incident happened between 5:00pm on Thursday, June 15, 2023 and 7:00am on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Assault Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday morning.
At approximately 11:30am on June 16, 2023, officers were called about a disturbance in the Margaret Avenue and Charlotte Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned about a neighbour dispute and that one neighbour had been physically assaulted by the other after a verbal argument. One male was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 11, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 63-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a neighbour dispute Saturday evening.
At approximately 10:00pm on June 17, 2023, officers were called to the area of Chamberlain Street and Park Street South. Upon arrival they learned that a verbal dispute over noise escalated, and a male victim was physically assaulted and a speaker damaged. The victim was treated by EMS.
As a result of the investigation, a 63-year-old Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – Adult
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 11, 2023.
