Bus Incident

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after an incident at the Jackson Creek Park gates. 

At approximately 9:00pm on June 9, 2023, officers were called to the intersection of Parkhill Road and Monaghan Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a school bus that had hit a building. 

Through investigation officers learned that the parking brake had been released and the bus rolled down the hill into the building.  No one was injured.  

It’s believed an 11-year-old and a 12-year-old were involved.  No charges have been laid at this time.

Sexual Assault Arrest

A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing a sexual assault charge after an incident Thursday evening.

On Friday, June 9, 2023, officers were made aware of an incident that happened the previous evening.  Upon speaking with the victim, officers learned that the victim had met the suspect online and when they met in person the suspect attempted to take her clothing off and touched her inappropriately. 

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Sexual Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 27, 2023. 

Domestic Assault Arrest

Two people are facing charges after a domestic incident.

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, officers were called about a theft and fraud after a wallet had been stolen and a bank card used at a business.  Officers were able to locate the suspect.  When speaking with her officers further learned of incidents of sexual assault and domestic assault including verbal threats and a knife that had happened earlier in the week involving the man who reported the stolen wallet. 

As a result of the investigation:

A 27-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

• Theft Under $5000
• Fraud Under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 27, 2023.

A 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Sexual Assault
• Assault – Spousal
• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
• Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, June 12, 2023.

Threats Arrest

A 68-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45pm on Friday, June 9, 2023, officers responded to a call for service at residence in the Downie Street and Charlotte Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a female visitor to the residence had been verbally threatened by a tenant with a knife. 

As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions to not possess any weapons and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
