Drug Warrant Arrest

Two people were arrested and charged with numerous weapons and drug offences after an investigation.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, officers with the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Peterborough residence.  Officers located one person attempting to leave the home and a second in their vehicle a short distance away from the residence.  

During a search of the residence officers seized:

• 8 grams of purple Fentanyl
• 14.3 grams of Cocaine
• 59 Oxycodone tablets, weighing 34.7 grams
• 12-guage Winchester ammunition
• 12-gauge shotgun
• Drug paraphernalia

A vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation.

As a result:

A 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or Ammunition
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

The accused is currently bound by a prohibition order with the following conditions to not possess a firearm or ammunition.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court, February 11, 2023.

A 26-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or Ammunition
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court, February 11, 2023.

RIDE Results

The Peterborough Police Service conducted several RIDE checks Sunday, February 12, 2023. 

The officers were in several different locations throughout Peterborough, Lakefield, and Cavan-Monaghan Township. 

Officers checked 630 vehicles and administered 28 ASD tests. 

There were zero impaired driving charges laid during the checks.

Impaired Arrest

A 68-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man is facing charges after an incident Saturday afternoon. 

At approximately 2:00pm on February 11, 2023, officers received a call about a truck in a ditch in the area of Syer Line and Tapley 1/4 Line.  Upon arrival, officers noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver. 

As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 2, 2023.

Break & Enter Arrest

A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing two charges in connection with a break and enter early Sunday morning.

At approximately 7:00am on February 12, 2023, officers were called to a residence about a break and enter. Upon arrival, officers found a male and a female arguing outside the residence.  During the investigation it was determined a male had broken into the house while the occupants were sleeping and vomited throughout before leaving and sleeping in the yard. 

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter and Commit Indictable Offence - Dwelling House
• Fail to Comply with Probation

The accused is currently bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

During the arrest the accused started to vomit and was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 2, 2023.   

Assault Arrest

A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing an assault charge after an incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:00am on February 12, 2023, officers were called to the area of Charlotte Street and George Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had struck a female knocking her glasses off with the glasses landing several feet away. 

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Assault – Spouse

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 8, 2023.
