Break and Enter Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after two incidents Friday evening.
On April 5, 2024, officers were called a residence in the Howden and Monaghan Road area about a break enter that happened between 8:00pm and 9:00pm that evening. The homeowner, who was home at the time and was not injured, didn’t believe anything was taken; however, a glass vase was knocked over and broken and several streaks of blood were noticed on a nearby wall in the home. While officers investigating the break and enter, a second call came through from a resident who believed they may have heard gun shots in the Monaghan Road and Gillespie Avenue area around 8:00pm. The resident checked the area but did not see anyone. However, a short time later the resident noticed a bloody handprint in the lobby of an apartment building in the McKellar Street and Monaghan Road area. A second resident also reported hearing a loud bang just after 8:00pm but had heard a loud car and then the car backfiring.
At this time, it’s believed the two incidents may be related. Officers canvassed the area, but no one was located. They also checked with Peterborough Regional Health Centre but no one with similar injuries had been reported.
