Criminal Harassment/Uttering Threats Arrest/Hate Bias Crime
A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at the end of March.
On March 31, 2022, officers responded to a call about a man outside an apartment building yelling profanities and slurs. Shortly after the initial incident more information was brought forward, and reasonable grounds for charges was formed.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Kevin Goudreau of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X2
- Criminal Harassment - repeatedly communicate X2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 10, 2022.
Due to the nature of the comments made at the time of the offence this incident has been classified as a hate bias crime. A hate crime is a criminal offence committed against a person or property which is motivated by the suspect/offender’s hate bias against a racial, religious, ethnic, sexual orientation or disability group.
Peterborough Police are releasing the name of the accused in this case in the event that there are more victims and for public safety.

George Street Incident
Peterborough Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at a George Street address Friday evening.
At approximately 6:00pm on April 22, 2022, information received was such that the Emergency Response Team attended, and the area was secured for a period of time. Through investigation it was learned that the call was in fact a “swatting” call. These types of calls are false reports but require the response level of an Emergency Response Team.
Peterborough Police remind residents that these types of calls require all the resources as if they were in fact real and charges in these cases could include criminal mischief charges.

Stabbing Incident
Peterborough Police are investigating after a stabbing incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 11:30pm on April 23, 2022, officers were called to the area of George Street North and King Street South. Upon arrival, officers learned that a group of friends had been walking on the street when an unknown male approached them and stabbed one of the males in the group in the back. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was described to police as:
- White male
- Dirty blonde shaggy hair
- Medium build
K9 was called in to complete a track of the area, but a suspect was not located.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Armour Road
Peterborough Police continue to investigate after a fatal motor vehicle collision Friday night.
At approximately 10:15am on April 22, 2022, officers were called to Armour Road and Euclid Avenue after reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pit-bike.
An 18-year-old Peterborough man who was the driver of the pit-bike died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation continues.
Fraud Arrests
Three people are facing charges in connection with a fraud incident at a local business on Saturday.
At approximately 6:15pm on April 23, 2022, officers were called about to a business about a fraud in progress. Upon arrival to the business in the Park Street and Lansdowne Street area, officers located a female and were able to take her into custody. Two other males were taken into custody during a traffic stop. It’s believed the group was wanted in connection with other incidents across the province.
As a result of the investigation:
A 36-year-old Scarborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud Under $5000
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs (crack cocaine)
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on April 24, 2022.
A 48-year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud Under $5000
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on April 24, 2022.
A 36-year-old Scarborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud Under $5000
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on April 24, 2022.
Assault Arrest
A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing assault charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 11:00pm on April 22, 2022, officers were called by EMS to a residence in the east end of Peterborough. Upon arrival, they learned that a male had brandished a knife at two paramedics. No one was injured and the male was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon X2
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X2
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2022.
