Thefts from Vehicles
The Peterborough Police Service has noticed an increase in the number of reports of thefts from vehicles in the last few weeks.
Reports have come in from both businesses and residences across the city. In some cases, cars have been rifled through and in other cases windows smashed and items taken.
Anyone experiencing this type of incident or noticing any suspicious activity is asked to report it to police.

Assault with a Weapon Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after an incident Friday afternoon.
At approximately 5:25pm on April 12, 2024, a taxi driver called police to report a fare had threatened them. Upon arrival, officers learned the driver was dropping off a female and a male passenger in the area King Street and Bethune Street. The cab driver was paid. However, the male got upset when the door wouldn’t open. The driver got out and opened the door. As the male was getting out of the vehicle he brandished a set of brass knuckles with a knife attached, verbally threatened the driver, and then took off from the area. The female went in a different direction. No one was injured in the incident.
The male passenger was described to police as:
- White Male
- Bright Blue Eyes
- Red/Blonde Hair
- 5’6; 180lbs
- Wearing a Grey Sweatshirt, Grey Trackpants, White Shoes, Grey Backpack, White hat

Assault Cause Bodily Harm Arrests
A Peterborough man and woman are facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.
On Friday, April 12, 2024, officers were made aware of a domestic incident in which a female was restrained and punched by a male partner and another female. The victim went to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, as a result of the investigation:
A 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal
A 32-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Both accused were held in custody and appeared in court April 14, 2024.
