Weapons Warrant/Drug Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough man wanted for weapons offences was arrested late Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00pm on September 25, 2024, officers with the Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture, and Drug Units spotted a man in the Simcoe Street and Hunter Street area. The man was wanted on charges of carry a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possess firearm contrary to prohibition order, and fail to comply with undertaking. The Emergency Response Team took the man into custody.
During a search after arrest, officers located:
- 92.4 grams of cocaine
- 90 grams of fentanyl
- 18 hydromorphone pills
- Machete
- Canadian currency
As a result of the investigation, the 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) – Dilaudid
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court September 26, 2024.
