October Road Safety Campaign
The Peterborough Police Service will be conducting a month-long enforcement campaign around the big four driving offences.
The big four are:
- Seatbelt offences
- Aggressive driving
- Impaired driving
- Distracted driving
The enforcement campaign coincides with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Operation Impact which takes place over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Since September 21, 2024, officers have laid five impaired charges and a refusal or failure to comply with demand charge related to four incidents, three of which were single motor vehicle collisions.
Impaired charges include an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
If you see a possible impaired driver or emergency on our roads, please call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies call 705-876-1122 x225, traffic complaints can also be made online at www.peterboroughpolice.com
