Sudden Death
The Peterborough Police Service is assisting the Coroner’s Office with a sudden death investigation.
At approximately 3:45am on Friday, May 10, 2024, officers were called to the trail near McDonnel Street and Reid Street about a woman found on the ground.
At this time, the death is not considered suspicious.

The trail was closed for about six hours and reopened just after 10:00am.
Theft Under $5000 Arrest
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a local business.
At approximately 12:00pm on May 9, 2024, officers in the area spotted a loss prevention officer running after a male in the parking lot of a store in The Parkway and Clonsilla Avenue area. Officers were able to catch up to the man and take him into custody. Officers learned that the Loss Prevention Officers had noticed the man enter the store and then attempt to leave without paying for items. When they approached him outside of the store, the man took off.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3
The accused is currently bound by three different probation orders; two with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and one with the condition to not attend the store in question.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Warrant Arrest
A 31-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant was arrested Thursday morning.
At approximately 9:00am on May 9, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Chemong Road and Mason Avenue area about an unwanted male. Upon arrival, officers learned that the male was wanted for robbery with violence, two counts of failing to comply with probation and breach of recognizance. They entered the apartment with their conducted energy weapons drawn and located the male hiding in a closet. He was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough was arrested on the strength of the warrant.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Fraud Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after incidents over the past couple of months.
On Thursday, May 9, 2024, officers were made aware of two instances of fraudulent prescriptions one in March and one in April being requested at a local pharmacy. In each case the prescriptions were from a veterinary clinic. Through investigation, a suspect was identified and taken into custody. During a search of their property after arrest, officers located another prescription similar to the others.
As a result, a 35-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Use, deals, acts on forged document x2
- Possession of a forged document with intent
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 4, 2024.
