Robbery Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a robbery at a local business Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:15pm on March 23, 2023, officers were called to the business in the Hunter Street West and Aylmer Street area. Upon arrival officers learned that two clerks had been in the store, and one was shoved and elbowed out of the way while trying to stop the suspect from leaving as they hadn’t paid for an item. The clerk did not require medical attention.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Slim build
- 30-40 years old
- 5’6-5’7 tall
- Clean shaven
- Wearing black clothing

Impaired Arrest
A 23-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on March 23, 2023, officers were called by a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver in the area of County Road 10 and Sharpe Line. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle and noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to surrender insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 20, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 32-year-old Kinmount man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Friday morning.
At approximately 12:30am on March 24, 2023, an officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle turn the wrong way on George Street North. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of George Street and King Street and noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver. Further investigation revealed the driver was suspended.
As a result, a 32-year-old Kinmount man was arrested and charged with:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Drive wrong way - one-way traffic (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driver fail to surrender licence (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving while under suspension - while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42 (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to have insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was issued a 45-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 18, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a domestic incident early Friday morning.
At approximately 2:00am on March 24, 2023, officers were called to a residence about a physical altercation between a male and a female in the home. During the investigation, officers learned that the male had also pushed and shoved another female in the residence. No one required medical attention. It was also learned that the male was bound by a release order to stay away from the female.
As a result, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault - spouse
- Assault
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 24, 2023.
Mischief Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after several incidents in Lakefield Wednesday.
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, officers received a call about an unwanted person at a residence. Upon officers responding the male left the residence. A short time later officers were called to the parking lot of a business where the same male was seen smashing the headlight of a vehicle and stomping on the vehicle, the male then went into the store and left without paying for an item, he then went across the street to another building, grabbed a brick and threw it at a sign.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief Under $5000 X2
- Theft Under $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 20, 2023.
Traffic Stop Arrest
A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of Highway Traffic Act charges after a traffic stop early Thursday morning.
At approximately 1:00am on March 23, 2023, officers on general patrol noticed a vehicle swerving in the lanes and changing speeds by going really fast and then slow on Lansdowne Street West between High Street and Park Street. The officers conducted a traffic stop. During the stop the officers learned that the driver was currently bound by an undertaking with the following condition to not occupy the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
As a result, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Class G1 licence holder - drive at unlawful hour (Highway Traffic Act)
- Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver (Highway Traffic Act)
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 12, 2023.
