Drug Arrest
A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an investigation by the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit.
On February 29, 2024, officers with the Drug Unit took the male into custody and executed a search warrant on a George Street North residence.
Officers seized:
- 100 grams - Cocaine
- 1,373 grams - Crystal Methamphetamine
- 118.8 grams - Fentanyl
- Approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency
As a result, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 1, 2024.
Distraction Theft Charges
Three people have been charged in connection to two distraction theft incidents at a local business in early February.
The Peterborough Police Service received a call and an online report about the incidents and started an investigation. During the investigation, information came from another police service that the suspects had been arrested in another city and that the thefts had been happening along the 401 corridor.
In the Peterborough cases, one of the men would engage the victim in conversation and while distracted another man would take the victim’s purse and leave the store. A third man would return to the store and use the cards to make purchases.
As a result of the investigation:
A 42-year-old man was charged with:
- Theft Under $5000.00 X2
- Theft of credit card
- Use of Credit Card
- Conspiracy to commit indictable offence X2
A 50-year-old man was charged with:
- Theft Under $5000.00 X2
- Theft of credit card
- Use of Credit Card
- Conspiracy to commit indictable offence X2
A 28-year-old Mississauga man was charged with:
- Theft Under $5000.00
- Theft of credit card
- Use of Credit Card
- Conspiracy to commit indictable offence
The accused are scheduled to return to court March 14, 2024.
