Stolen Vehicle Recovered
A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after a stolen vehicle was located Thursday evening.
At approximately 11:20pm on July 11, 2024, a K9 officer on general patrol in the Park Street and Lake Street area spotted a vehicle in a parking lot matching the description of one that had been reported stolen earlier that evening. As the officer was approaching the vehicle, a man got out and started walking away. K9 Gryphon was deployed and conducted a bark and hold arrest. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
As a result, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 – in Canada
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 12, 2024.
Warrant Arrest
A 34-year-old Peterborough man wanted on two warrants has been arrested.
At approximately 8:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024, officers spotted the man in a parking lot in the Lansdowne Street and Park Street South area and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants for Assault – Spousal stemming from an incident in November of 2023 and Fraud Under $5000 in connection with an incident in June of 2024 was arrested on the strength of the warrants.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 12, 2024.
Assault Arrest
A 38-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident of intimate partner violence (IPV) early Friday morning.
At approximately 1:00am on July 12, 2024, officers were called to the area of Cameron Street and Erskine Avenue about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the female victim had been pulled down and struck and then the door had been locked so the victim couldn’t leave. The suspect was still in the home and was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Forcible Confinement
- Assault – Spousal
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 12, 2024.
In order to protect the identity of the victim in this incident, the name of the accused will not be released.
Sexual Assault Arrest
A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after an incident was reported to police.
On July 9, 2024, officers were made aware of an incident that had happened at the end of June. The victim and the suspect had met a few weeks before and were driving around in his vehicle when an argument over the status of their friendship occurred. During the argument, the victim was verbally threatened by the suspect and pushed. The pair drove to another area where the suspect engaged in non-consensual activities with the victim.
On July 10, 2024, a 27-year-old Peterborough man turned himself in and was charged with:
- Sexual Assault
- Assault
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
- Breach of Recognizance
The accused is currently bound by a recognizance with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on July 10, 2024.
