Weapons Arrest
Two Peterborough teens are facing multiple charges after an incident early Friday morning.
At approximately 2:30am on Friday, January 12, 2024, officers were called to a business in the George Street North and Townsend Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that several young people had stolen items from the business and fled. Officers searched the area and located two young people, matching the description given to police, a short distance away from the business. Both were taken into custody and searched after arrest. Officers seized two replica handguns and a can of bear spray.
As a result of the investigation,
A 15-year-old Peterborough male is charged with:
- Carrying concealed weapon X2
- Failure to comply with release order
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
The accused is currently bound by a weapons prohibition order with the following conditions to not possess any firearm or weapon as defined under the Criminal Code.
The accused is currently bound by a curfew under a release order.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 22, 2024.
A 16-year-old Peterborough male is charged with:
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
The accused is currently bound by a weapons prohibition order with the following condition to not possess any firearm or weapon as defined under the Criminal Code.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 22, 2024.
Assault Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after reports of several domestic incidents.
On Thursday, January 11, 2024, officers were called about an assault. Upon speaking with the victim, they learned that a verbal argument had escalated, and that the victim had been grabbed and pinned down. Officers further learned about previous incidents dating back several years.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault x6
- Utter threats to cause death
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 30, 2024.
