Weapons Arrest
A 14-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 7:30pm on December 14, 2023, officers responded to a weapons call for service at Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute after staff chaperoning a winter dance had been made aware that a student had threatened several other students with a knife on a nearby trail. Faculty located the student and took them to an office, however, the male refused to put the knife down. An officer arrived and asked the male to put the knife down, however, he did not comply until the officer pointed but did not discharge their Conducted Energy Weapon at the suspect. Then officers were able to take the male into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 8, 2024.
Impaired Arrest
A 39-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 12:45pm on December 14, 2023, officers were called to the parking lot in the area of Hunter Street East and Mark Street about a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle described to police. When they approached the vehicle, they noticed the driver was passed out and that the vehicle was still in drive and running. The officer was able to wake the driver who put the vehicle in park and turned off the engine. The officer further noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while Impaired – drugs
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 9, 2024.
Possession of Stolen Property Arrest
A 20-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Thursday morning.
At approximately 8:45am on December 14, 2023, an officer on general patrol in the Dublin Street and Aylmer Street area spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Durham Region. While officers were having the vehicle towed, a woman exited a nearby residence and attempted to enter the vehicle. Officers took the female into custody. It was further learned that the accused was also wanted on several warrants for break and enter, theft, failing to attend court and failing to comply with probation.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Obstruct Peace Officer (providing a false name)
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court, December 14, 2023.
