Impaired Arrest

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident early Friday morning.

Just after midnight on April 22, 2022, officers were called about a vehicle striking a light post along Alymer Street between Westcott Street and Romaine Street. Upon arrival, officers noticed a significant amount of debris and a second hydro pole that had been hit.  The driver had fled the scene and PSD Isaac was called in for a track which helped officers locate a man in the Clonsilla Avenue and Third Avenue area.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• Dangerous operation
• Fail to report accident (Highway Traffic Act)
• Fail to report damage to property on highway (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 10, 2022.

Assault Arrest

A 59-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 9:15am on April 21, 2022, officers were called to a east end Peterborough residence.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal argument had escalated between a man and a woman and that a male had become physically aggressive with the woman and a pet cat.

As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Assault with a Weapon  - Spousal
• Assault – Spousal
• Uttering Threats - Damage or Injure Animal
• Causing damage or injury to animal or birds while being driven/conveyed
• Mischief - Domestic

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, April 22, 2022.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident, the name of the accused will not be released.
