Thefts from Vehicles Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man charged earlier this week in connection with several theft from vehicle incidents is facing more charges after another incident.
At approximately 10:15pm on April 18, 2024, officers were called to the area of Hunter Street East and Mark Street after a concerned citizen called police about a man who appeared to be trying to get into vehicles. Upon arrival, officers searched the area and located a man matching the description given to police. While speaking to the man, officers located items not in his name. The man then tried to run and was taken into custody. During a search after arrest, officers found about four dozen items believed to be taken from vehicles.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 19, 2024.
Officers are currently going through the found items. The investigation is ongoing.

K9 Track/Warrant Arrest
A 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on a warrant after an incident early Friday morning.
At approximately 1:15am on April 19, 2024, officers were called to the area of Princess Street and Lock Street about a suspicious person in a backyard. Upon arrival to the area, officers spotted a man matching the description given to police, but the man left area upon seeing police. K9 Gryphon was called in and began a track, leading officers to a nearby address. The suspect was located on a back porch.
As a result, a 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7, 2024.
