A 78-year-old man from the County of Peterborough is facing several charges following an investigation.
On August 30, 2023, officers from the Peterborough Police Investigative Services Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the County of Peterborough.
As a result of a one-month online investigation, a 78-year-old man was arrested and charged with:
- Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunications X2
The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared in court on August 30, 2023.
The Peterborough Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet.

Assault Arrest
A 51-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 11:00pm on September 5, 2023, officers were called to the area of Park Street North and King Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that there had been a domestic dispute between a man and a woman in which the woman was thrown to the ground and stepped on. A cell phone was also damaged during the incident. The woman did not require medical attention. The male was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of minor self-inflicted injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – Spousal
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 78-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 5:00pm on September 5, 2023, officers were called by a passerby about a two vehicle collision at Lansdowne Street East and River Road South. Upon arrival, officers noticed signs of impairment with one of the drivers.
As a result of the investigation, a 78-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was given an automatic 90-day driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2023.
