Assault Arrest
A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 11:00pm on November 19, 2024, officers were called to a residence on Park Street South about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that two men, who were known to each other, had gotten into a verbal argument when one of the men struck the other with a collapsible baton and then sprayed him with bear mace before fleeing to a residence next door.
Officers located a man matching the description given to police at the neighbouring residence and took him into custody without incident.
The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to not possess any weapon(s) as defined by the Criminal Code.
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, November 20, 2024.
Break and Enter Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges in connection with a break and enter at a Peterborough business.
At approximately 3:00am on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, officers were alerted to an alarm at the business on Simcoe Street near Water Street. Upon arrival, officers noticed the front door was open and conducted a building search. No one was found inside the building. Through investigation and video, officers were able to get a description of the suspect. They located a woman matching that description outside a nearby building a short time later. She was taken into custody without incident. Several items taken from the business were found during a search after arrest and returned to the owner.
As a result, a 37-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence (theft)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Failure to comply with probation X2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 20, 2024.
