Stunt Driving Charge
A 23-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop in Peterborough Tuesday morning.
At approximately 7:30am on March 25, 2025, an officer from the Traffic Unit was on general patrol in the area of Lily Lake Road and Ackison Road. A vehicle was spotted travelling at a high rate of speed and was recorded going 99 in a 50km/h zone.
As a result, the driver was charge with:
- Stunt in excess of 40km/hr
The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
Theft From Vehicle Arrest
A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a concerned citizen called police about suspicious activity early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 3:30am on March 26, 2025, officers were called to the area of Monaghan Road and Hopkins Avenue about a suspicious person with a flashlight possibly checking door handles of vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police and took him into custody. A jacket and some other items were located with the man and returned to the rightful owner.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Trespassing at Night
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today March 26, 2025.
