Fraud Arrest
A 62-year-old Peterborough man is facing 15 charges of fraud in connection with a series of incidents late last year.
On Monday, March 10, 2025, officers arrested the suspect at their residence. Through investigation, officers learned that between November 7 and December 22, 2024 the suspect would attend the business and in each case, merchandise was not properly scanned at a self-checkout. In total, the store was out just over $8,000 in product.
As a result, a 62-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud under $5000 X15
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Collision – Lakefield – Update
A 52-year-old Lakefield man is facing charges in connection with a collision involving two pedestrians last October.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, an 81-year-old woman and an 86-year-old man were struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at Queen Street and Concession Street in Lakefield. The woman died from her injuries as a result of the collision and the man was injured.
As a result, a 52-year-old Lakefield was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Careless driving causing death
- Careless driving causing bodily harm
- Fail to yield to pedestrian
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on May 26, 2025.
