Warrant Arrest - Update
A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges as a result of a drug investigation which was initiated following a sudden overdose death in October 2022.
As a result, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, officers with Investigative Services and the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Peterborough residence. During the search officers located a loaded handgun, drugs, and cash.
27-year-old Jameel Jackson of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Trafficking in schedule I substance – Fentanyl
- Possession of schedule I substance for purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, January 25, 2023.
Peterborough Police Service is releasing the name of the accused in this case as a matter of public safety.
Drugs Found
Peterborough Police Service would like to thank two residents for calling police about a suspicious item beside a local trail.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, officers were notified by several people walking in the area of a foot path near Maria Street about a suspicious item. PC Cowie and PSD Isaac attended the area to conduct a search. As a result of the search PSD Isaac located a small quantity of cocaine in the snow.
