Impaired by Drug Arrest
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 3:30am on February 1, 2023, a concerned citizen called police after noticing a vehicle being driven erratically in the Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road area before it crashed into a snowbank and the driver fled the scene. Officers then received a second call about a man attempting to get into cars at a nearby drive thru. Officers attended the drive thru area and located a man matching the description given to police in the collision.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drug
- Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to have insurance card (Canadian Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was also issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court February 22, 2023.
