Aiding Suicide Arrest
A six-month long investigation has resulted in charges against a 76-year-old Keswick woman.
On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, officers with the Criminal Investigations Unit arrested Margaret Murphy in connection with the death of a 73-year-old woman in May of 2023. The two women were known to each other. It was also learned that during the initial death investigation the suspect provided false information to police.
As a result of the investigation, 76-year-old Margaret Murphy of Keswick has been charged with:
- Aiding Suicide
- Obstruct Police
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 16, 2023.

Theft Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday morning.
At approximately 9:40am on December 5, 2023, officers were called to the area of Lansdowne Street and Ford Street after a business reported someone had fled their store with a number of items. A male matching the description given to police was located a short distance away in the Lansdowne Street and High Street area and taken into custody. The items taken from the store were also located.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft under $5000
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 19, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 12:10am on December 6, 2023, officers were called to the area of George Street North and Townsend Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that an employee of a business had been punched in the face during an altercation and that the suspect had fled the store heading westbound on Townsend. Officers started searching the area and located a male matching the description given to police a short distance away. The male was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault - Adult
- Breach of Probation
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 2, 2024.
