Robbery Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after an incident at a Peterborough business Tuesday evening.
At approximately 8:50pm on December 12, 2023, officers were called to the area of High Street and Lansdowne Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that an unknown male had entered a business, approached an employee and demanded money, indicating he had a weapon in his pocket. The employee complied and the male fled the store with about $300. K9 Gryphon was called and conducted a track in the area, but a suspect was not located.
The suspect was described to police as:
- White male, approximately 5’10, medium build, stocky, with blue eyes, approximately 30-40 years of age
- Wearing a hoodie, face fully covered with a dark face covering, dark coloured hat, black pants, dark shoes

Extradition Return
A 34-year-old Peterborough man is being held in custody after he was extradited from the United States.
In May of 2022, three warrants were issued for the arrest of the man who failed to attend court for his sentencing for numerous sexual offences involving children. An investigation into the man’s whereabouts was conducted and he was located in West Virginia.
In September 2023, officers with the United States Marshal Service arrested the man and began the extradition process.
On December 12, 2023, officers with the Peterborough Police Service went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, took custody of the suspect and returned to Peterborough.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 13, 2023.
In order to protect the identity of the victims in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
Traffic Stop/Warrant Arrest
Three people were arrested on warrants after a traffic stop in Peterborough early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 1:00am on December 13, 2023, officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle travelling at a fast speed in the Dublin Street and Water Street area. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and continued to attempt to evade police by going through a red light in the George Street and McDonnel Street area before stopping. The people in the vehicle attempted to run away but were stopped by officers and brought back to the vehicle. During the investigation, an officer spotted a handgun in the vehicle. At that time officers conducted a gun-point arrest and took all four people into custody. Through investigation it was determined the weapon was a BB gun and no other weapons were found.
It was further determined that three people in the vehicle were wanted on warrants.

A 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on strength of two warrants and is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 13, 2023.
A 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on strength of three warrants and is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 13, 2023.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested on the strength of warrants related to another jurisdiction and turned over to that police service.
The 37-year-old female driver from Peterborough County was released unconditionally, but charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Driver fail to surrender licence
- Red Light – Fail to Stop
- Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to stop
