Motor Vehicle Collision – Sherbrooke and Stewart Streets UPD
Peterborough Police are providing an update to a motor vehicle collision that happened last week.
The 54-year-old Peterborough man who was the driver of the E-bike has succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation continues.

Original Release
At 12 pm today (Thursday, April 14, 2022) Peterborough Police responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and an E-Bike at the intersection of Sherbrooke Street and Stewart Street. The driver of the E-Bike has been transported to hospital in serious condition.
The Peterborough Police Accident Reconstruction Unit along with our Forensic Identification Unit are on scene investigating the collision.
It is expected this intersection will be closed to motor vehicle traffic for several hours. The public are encouraged to avoid this area.
Assault Arrest
A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 5:30am on April 20, 2022, officers were called to a west-end Peterborough residence. Upon arrival, they learned that a physical altercation had occurred between a man and a woman. A small child was in the home at the time. No medical attention was required. During the investigation further information was revealed about incidents starting in October of 2017.
As a result, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault - Spousal X4
- Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, April 20, 2022.
In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident, the name of the accused will not be released.
Theft Arrests
A 45-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after several incidents Tuesday.
At approximately 12:30pm on April 19, 2022, officers were called to a business on Clonsilla Avenue near Goodfellow. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had entered the business, taken a coat off of a coat rack and then left after she was asked to wear a mask. A good Samaritan followed her and saw the woman go to another location and attempt to enter a residence. She was then spotted walking in a neighbourhood by police and upset that she was followed.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
Trespass to Property Act
- Enter premises when entry prohibited
- Engage in prohibited activity on premises
- Engage in prohibited activity on premises
Peterborough Bylaw
- Cause a nuisance - public disturbance
The accused was released on an undertaking and is schedule to appear in court on May 3, 2022.
Later that day, police received a number of calls with regard to the woman and as a result of a secondary investigation in which some money was stolen from a restaurant in the George Street North and Charlotte Street area, the 45-year-old woman was further charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
The accused was held in custody before being released on an undertaking and a court date of May 3, 2022.
Mischief Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing mischief charges after an incident at the Peterborough Police Station Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30pm, a man attending the station became upset and threw a wooden pilon through the front window. Officers pursued the man from the station taking him into custody in a nearby parking lot. During the pursuit an officer was injured and was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre by EMS for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief Under $5000
- Failing to Comply with a Probation Order
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 10, 2022.
