Shooting – Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is searching for a suspect after a shooting early Monday morning.
At approximately 12:22 am on Monday, September 4, 2023, officers were called to the area of Rubidge Street and Stewart Street area. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim with a leg injury. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre before being transferred to a Toronto-area hospital for further treatment. Officers further learned there had been an argument between the men at the time of the incident. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Black male
- 5'10" – 6’
- Stocky build (180- 200lbs)
- Short corn rows
- Thin moustache, well-groomed short beard
- Wearing dark jeans and a black t-shirt

Stabbing Arrest
An 18-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Monday morning.
At approximately 5:50am on Monday, September 4, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Walker Avenue and Marsdale Drive area. Upon arrival, officers learned there had been a dispute between two brothers during which one was stabbed. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Monday, September 4, 2023.
Criminal Investigation Update
The Peterborough Police Service continues to investigate after responding to a 9-1-1 call about a possible firearm and hostage situation.
At approximately 6:10am on Monday, September 4, 2023, the Emergency Response Team attended and secured the area of McDonnel Street near Stewart Street. Several people in the residence were taken into custody before they were released unconditionally.
It was determined that there was not a hostage situation. Based on the information about a possible firearm, officers obtained a search warrant, however, a firearm was not located in the home.
Weapons Arrest
Two Peterborough teens are facing charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.
Around 3:15pm on September 2, 2023, Peterborough Police received several 9-1-1 calls about a male on a bicycle with a firearm in the Reid Street and Sherbrooke Street area. Officers went to the area but were unable to locate anyone. Shortly after 4:30pm, officers were called to the area of George Street and Brock Street by an off-duty civilian member of the Service who spotted a male matching the description given to police. Officers arrived in the area and spotted two males on bicycles. When officers attempted to stop the pair, they fled. Police gave chase and both were taken into custody.
During a search of both males after arrest, officers seized:
- BB Gun with ammunition
- Brass knuckles
- Bear mace
- Knives
- Bandanas
- Gloves
It was further determined that one of the bicycles had been reported stolen in June of this year.
As a result of the investigation:
A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 23, 2023.
A 16-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 23, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 38-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 5:30 am on September 3, 2023, officers were called after a vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the Argyle Street and Water Street area. The driver of the vehicle was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. No one was in the parked vehicle at time of the collision.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired by drugs
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court October 3, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Monday morning.
At approximately 4:15am on Monday, September 4, 2023, officers were called to the area of Museum Drive and Hunter Street about a vehicle that was in the ditch. Upon arrival, officers located the driver and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to be in court September 26, 2023.
