Arson Investigation – Update
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service continue to search for information into a fire at an outbuilding of a business last Thursday morning.
Through investigation, a person of interest has been identified.

Theft Arrest
A 52-year-old Haileybury man is facing charges after theft incidents in Peterborough.
At approximately 8:40pm on Monday, November 25, 2024, officers were called to the Canadian Tire Store on Lansdowne Street West about a theft. It was reported a male had left the store with several items and headed eastbound. The male was located at another business in the Lansdowne Street and Webber Avenue area and taken into custody. During a search of the suspect incident to arrest, officers located several tools including a knife. Officers also found a vehicle connected to the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Haileybury man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Failure to comply with Release order – other than to attend court
The accused is currently bound by a release order to stay with their surety every night and to stay out of all Canadian Tire stores. He is also wanted on a warrant in another jurisdiction.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 26, 2024.
