Domestic Assault
At approximately 1:50am on December 30, 2023, officers observed a disturbance in the area of George Street and Charlotte Street. Officers went over to assist and learned that a male had just assaulted his girlfriend. The female suffered injuries and was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for medical assessment.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault - Spousal
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on December 30, 2023.
Domestic Assault
At approximately 02:57am on December 30, 2023, officers responded to a disturbance call in the area of McDonnel Street and Donegal Street. Officers checked the area and located a male and female walking westbound on McDonnel Street near Cross Street. The female had visible injuries to her head and face. The male was arrested, and during the search was found to be in possession of composite knuckles. A nearby broken window was also located.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Assault – Spousal
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend court on January 16, 2024
Ride Program / Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired charge during a RIDE check late Sunday night.
At 11:53pm on December 31, 2023, officers conducting a RIDE check were approached by a citizen and advised that a vehicle had just struck another vehicle in a parking lot and fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop.
As a result, a 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive while under suspension – Highway traffic Act
The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 30. 2024.
The Peterborough Police conducted RIDE checks between December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024 in the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield and Cavan-Monaghan Township. In all, 835 vehicles were checked, 38 tests were administered and in addition to the above impaired arrest; two warnings with a three-day license suspension were issued.
