Assault Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police is looking for a suspect in connection with an incident at a convenience store Monday evening.
At approximately 6:00pm on February 20, 2023, officers were called to the business in the Monaghan Road and Chamberlain Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned a man had walked into the store, pointed a firearm at the clerk and fired before fleeing the area. During investigation it was determined that the weapon was a pellet gun and that nothing was taken from the business. The clerk was struck in the face, however, did not require medical attention.
The suspect is described as:
- White male
- Thin build
- Approximately 5'8
- Wearing:
- Dark camouflage jacket
- Dark with white pattern bandana covering his face
- Dark pants
- Red running shoes

Break and Enter Arrest
A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday morning.
Just after midnight on February 21, 2023, officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen about a possible break and enter at a business in the Hunter Street West and Water Street area. Upon arrival, officers contained the scene and a male turned himself in to police. During a search after arrest, a number of items were located on the accused including a collapsible knife and scissors.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence
- Possession Break-In Instruments
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, February 21, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on February 18, 2023, officers received a call about a vehicle into a pole in the area of Cameron Street and Erskine Avenue. Upon arrival, officers identified the driver and noticed obvious signs of impairment. The driver suffered minor injuries in the collision and was take to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driver fail to surrender licence (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 8, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 20-year-old Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen man is facing impaired charges after a traffic stop early Monday morning.
At approximately 2:00am on February 20, 2023, an officer on general patrol noticed a vehicle being driven with an improper muffler. A traffic stop was conducted in the Water Street and Hunter Street area. During the traffic stop the officer noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Improper muffler - motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 16, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Monday morning.
At approximately 3:00am on February 20, 2023, officers were called to the area George Street North and Charlotte Street area about a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers learned that one of the drivers had gotten out of their vehicle to examine the damage when a passenger in that vehicle got into the driver’s seat and drove off. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Lansdowne Street West and Park Street South. A traffic stop was conducted in the Part Street South and Braidwood Avenue area and the officer noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to signal for turn X2 (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 16, 2023.
